Most recently, Mr. Hickey worked on Wall Street with Citigroup's (formerly known as Salomon Smith Barney) investment banking division, where he advised corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and initial public offerings within the Global Insurance and Asset Management industry. His most notable advisory work was with the $16.1 billion merger of The St. Paul Companies and Travelers Merchant Service Corp. forming The St. Paul Travelers Companies Inc. On April 23, 2004, Global Finance named Citigroup the World’s best global investment bank for 2004 followed by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Hickey's first business venture was at the age of 15 when he successfully ran a clothing distribution store for 2 years in British Columbia, Canada. Mr. Hickey is a former Canadian National speed skating champion and a North American medalist in both long-track and short-track disciplines. He coached the Montreal South Central Speed Skating club for two years, where he assisted taking them from 5th to 3rd position in Montreal.
Mr. Hickey was the head finance tutor for McGill University, where he tutored university level finance and accounting courses. He graduated with Distinction from McGill University receiving a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance and a concentration in accounting.
Mr. Hickey is a former partner and assisted in founding DOCLINC Consulting, Inc., a temporary work placement service with the Canadian health care industry.
