ATVF Invests in TCI, a Participatory Sporting Events Company
December 1, 2005 - (Austin, TX) - Aegis Texas Venture Fund (“Aegis”) and Accent Texas Fund I (“Accent”) have closed on an approximate $1.45 million investment of preferred equity and debt in Team Championships International (“TCI” or the “Company”), a Texas-based company which produces participatory sporting events across the United States. TCI’s properties include:
- Hoop It Up, the largest 3on3 amateur basketball Tour in the world;
- Kick-It, the largest 3v3 amateur soccer Tour in the word; and,
- Let It Fly, the largest 4on4 amateur flag football Tour in the world.
The financing allows TCI to significantly expand their sales and marketing staffs while helping to fund the creation of new properties, the expansion of existing properties and the creation of an international presence. Combined, the Tours draw nearly one million competitors and spectators annually, making TCI the largest participatory sports company of its kind in the world.
“TCI is well positioned to expand its leadership role within the participatory sports arena, which now totals more than 50 million active American ages six and up,” said Jay Watson, Board Chairman of TCI. “Our current lineup includes the three largest participatory sports properties worldwide, Hoop It Up, Kick-It and Let It Fly. TCI will use this investment as a catalyst both to build upon our already successful brands and to create new ones exclusively targeting the active lifestyle and participatory sports sector. This growth will, in turn, create new jobs for the State of Texas.”
TCI’s tours provide 429 days of festival style activities and entertainment, culminating with World Championship events for each Tour. Upcoming events include the annual Kick-It 3v3 World Championships held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex in Florida this January 13th – 16th.
